QC11a - High Strength Fastener Requirements:
Subcontractor’s Quality Assurance department shall be responsible for ensuring that items per this Subcontract/Purchase Order are packaged in such a manner that the dimensional integrity is preserved, contamination and corrosion are prevented, and physical damage to the threads is avoided during shipment. When size permits (usually #10 and MJ5 and larger), the threaded portion of the fastener shall be individually sleeved. Other methods used shall ensure that threads remain undamaged during shipment. Cadmium and zinc plating is prohibited.
Test Report Requirements
Subcontractor shall include with each shipment a legible copy of the following test reports/certifications:
1.0 Materials Test Report from the fastener manufacturer:
1.1 Name and address of the manufacturer.
1.2 Part number and the ordering and procurement specification, including revision levels that controlled the manufacture of the goods.
1.3 Manufacturer’s production order/lot number.
1.4 Material traceability data:
1.4.1 Material specification.
1.4.2 Alloy class, type, or grade.
1.4.3 Raw material heat lot, lot, or melt number.
1.4.4 Name of raw material producer.
1.5 All mechanical, chemical, dimensional, non-destructive and metallurgical test reports, when required by the applicable specification.
2.0 Raw Material Certification, from the original raw material producer.
3.0 Heat Treatment Certification, when required by the applicable specification.
4.0 Surface Treatment Certification, when required by the applicable specification.
High-strength fastener is defined as any externally threaded fastener that have a minimum tensile strength of 160 ksi or 1100 MPA.
