QC47g - Printed Wiring Board (PWB) Inner Layer Inspection:
General Requirements
The Subcontractor shall perform 100% inspection of the multilayer board (MLB) inner layers using Automatic Optical Inspection (AOI) prior to the lamination process.
- AOI inspection shall be conducted in accordance with the latest version of IPC-A-600, Acceptability of Printed Boards, and the performance requirements of the applicable IPC-6010 series documents, Class 3 Performance, High Reliability Electronic Products or Class C for High Performance High Density Interconnects.
- All MLBs with defective inner layers shall be discarded.
Reporting Requirements
The Subcontractor shall provide with each shipment a signed Certificate of Conformance that AOI inner layer inspection was performed to verify the following:
- For rigid inner layers - All inner layers have been inspected by AOI to IPC-6011/6012 Class 3 requirements.
- For flex inner layers - All inner layers have been inspected by AOI to IPC-6011/6013 Class 3 requirements.
Source Inspection Requirements
If the Subcontractor is not AOI capable, Subcontractor shall notify JPL Procurement Quality Assurance Office at (818) 393-7592 to coordinate the inner-layer source inspection.
JPL requires a minimum number of working days advance notice to schedule a date for the JPL source inspection.
